A quote card is the least forgiving thing to design, because there is nothing on it but type. No photo to carry it, no layout to admire - just whether the words are set well. Which means the whole craft is in line breaks, size and the space around them.

What makes it work

Break the lines where a person would breathe Do not let the text box decide. Break by phrase, so each line is a unit of sense - it is the difference between a quote that is read and one that is scanned.
Set it big and centre the block, not the lines Fill the frame with the words, then keep the block optically centred with slightly more space below than above. Perfectly equal margins read as low.
Credit the source quietly A smaller line under the quote, in the same family, at a lighter weight or lower opacity. An uncredited quote is the fastest way to lose the audience you were trying to impress.
One typographic idea only A serif at a large size, or wide-tracked capitals, or a single italic word. Two ideas at once and the card starts looking like a template.
Behind a photo, earn the contrast If the quote sits on an image, darken the picture or put a panel behind the type rather than adding a shadow to every letter. A drop shadow on large text reads as a workaround.
