How to make an Instagram carousel
A carousel is just a set of same-size slides people swipe through. In Emaki Studio you lay them all out side by side on one canvas, then export each frame as its own image - ready to post. Here is the whole flow.
- 1. Pick the carousel size and slide count On the setup screen choose a square (1080x1080) or portrait (1080x1350) preset and set how many slides you want. Every frame is created at the same size so the swipe lines up cleanly.
- 2. Add your photos Drag images onto the canvas or drop one onto a frame to fill it. Photos are cover-fitted to the slide, so they fill the frame without distorting. Nothing is uploaded - your images stay on your device.
- 3. Add text and shapes Use the Text tool for titles and captions, and shapes or stylised text for accents. Repeat a heading across slides to keep the set looking like one piece.
- 4. Keep it consistent across slides Reuse the same fonts, colours and margins on every frame. Snapping and alignment guides help you place elements in the same spot slide to slide.
- 5. Export each slide as an image Open Export and download every frame at once (as a zip) or one by one. Each slide comes out as a separate image in posting order, ready to upload to Instagram as a carousel.

- What size should an Instagram carousel be?
- Square (1080x1080) or portrait (1080x1350) both work well. Portrait takes up more space in the feed. Pick one size and use it for every slide so the swipe stays aligned.
- How many slides can a carousel have?
- Instagram allows up to 20 slides per carousel post. Most carousels use between 3 and 10. You can set any frame count in Emaki Studio.
- Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?
- No. Emaki Studio runs entirely in your browser - your images are never sent to a server. There is no account and no sign-up.
