Business card maker
A business card is a print job, which means the rules are different from anything you post: fixed physical size, 300 DPI, and a margin wide enough that a millimetre of trimming error does not cut through your phone number. Get those three right and the design is straightforward.

What makes it work
- Start from the print preset, not a pixel guess The Business Card preset is 1050 x 600 at 300 DPI, which is exactly 3.5 x 2 inches on paper. Designing at a screen resolution and scaling up afterwards is what produces soft, fuzzy print.
- Keep everything well inside the edge Cards are trimmed with a tolerance. Text within a couple of millimetres of the edge can end up cut or sitting crooked on the stack, so hold a 4 mm margin all round.
- Fewer details, bigger Name, role, one phone number, one email, one handle. Every extra line pushes the type smaller, and small type on a card is the reason people photograph it instead of reading it.
- Put a QR code on the back The back of a card is usually wasted. A QR code pointing at your site or profile turns it into the useful side - add one from the editor's Elements panel, with your logo in the middle if you want it.
- Export PDF, not PNG The PDF export writes the page at 300 DPI, so the printer receives a document whose physical size is already correct. A PNG arrives as pixels and leaves the sizing to whoever opens it.

- What size is a business card?
- 3.5 x 2 inches is the standard in the US, which is 1050 x 600 pixels at 300 DPI - the built-in preset. European cards are usually 85 x 55 mm, close enough that most printers accept either.
- Does it add bleed marks?
- No - the export is the card itself, with no bleed area or crop marks. Keep a 4 mm safe margin, and if your printer requires bleed, set the canvas to their bleed size and run your background out to its edges.
- Can I add a QR code?
